Search this and you get a NABCEP PDF dated February 2012 describing an exam that no longer exists. Here are current figures, in Canadian dollars, with nothing hidden behind an enquiry form.
Two separate costs, and most pages blur them. There is what the examination costs, and there is what preparing for it costs. You can pay the first without paying the second, and a meaningful number of people should.
Book a seat through us and that is the whole of it. The fee covers:
There is nothing further to pay NABCEP, and no testing vendor to deal with separately. One invoice, from us. The fee tracks the US dollar, because NABCEP charges us in US dollars, and if the rate moves far enough to change the price we tell you before you pay rather than after.
The same price applies to every candidate, whether they trained with us or somewhere else, and the booking form does not ask where you studied. Book a seat →
| What | Price | Who it is for |
|---|---|---|
| Question bank, 140 questions on video | $210 | People already working in solar |
| One-to-one, one hour | $150 | One specific problem, usually string sizing |
| Self-paced, 40 hours | $799 | Working around a job |
| Fast-Track, 4 live days | $1,575 | New to the field, or an employer paying |
| Route | Total, CAD |
|---|---|
| Already work in solar: exam seat only | $240 |
| Confident, want practice: question bank + seat | $450 |
| Studying around a job: self-paced + bank + seat | $1,249 |
| New to the field: Fast-Track + seat | $1,815 |
Taxes extra. Those are the real numbers, and they are on the site because an unpublished price is a price that can be adjusted to the customer.
The two largest North American providers publish theirs, so this is checkable. Everblue's PV Associate programme is US$999 and HeatSpring's boot camp is US$895 (both checked 2 October 2026); SEI's package is US$1,795. Our self-paced course at $799 CAD is roughly US$570 at prevailing rates.
Where a competitor is the better buy: if you are in the United States and want the examination fee bundled into one American transaction, Everblue does that and we do not. Say so plainly rather than pretend otherwise. If you are in Canada, you are paying a US provider in US dollars for a course taught against the US code, and the difference is both the exchange rate and the content.
What you will earn afterwards, or how long the credential takes to pay for itself. We do not know, it varies by province and employer and whether you hold a trade certificate, and a training provider quoting you a return on its own course is quoting a number it invented. Job Bank publishes Canadian wage data by region; that is the place to look.
If you already install solar and the gap is examination technique rather than knowledge, buy the $210 question bank and sit the exam. We would rather sell you that than a $1,575 course you did not need, and we say so on the phone as readily as here. Twenty of its questions are published free so you can judge before paying anything.
A seat booked through us is $240 CAD, covering the NABCEP examination fee, reserving your exam, and confirming your appointment with the proctor. There is nothing further to pay NABCEP.
Not from us. Examination seats are open to every candidate at the same price, and the booking form does not ask where you trained.
Because NABCEP charges us in US dollars. If the rate moves far enough to change the price we tell you before you pay, not after.
No. Our prices are on this page and on the pricing page, taxes extra, and the exam seat is one payment with nothing further owed to anyone.
Ask. We would rather arrange something than lose somebody who wants the course.
