There is less to this than people expect. You do not travel, you do not find a test centre, and you do not deal with a testing vendor. You book a seat, we handle the rest, and you sit it in your own room.
Canada is not an awkward place to take a NABCEP examination, and a lot of what is written about it online is out of date. The practical position today is that the standard sitting is proctored online from wherever you are, so geography has stopped being a factor at all.
One fee of $240 CAD. Inside it: the NABCEP examination fee, reserving your exam, and confirming your appointment with the proctor. There is no second invoice and no separate vendor to pay. The fee tracks the US dollar because NABCEP charges us in US dollars, and if the rate moves far enough to change the price we tell you before you pay rather than after.
Proctored online is what almost everyone chooses and what we recommend. You need a computer with a working webcam and microphone, a stable connection, government photo identification matching your NABCEP record, and a room where you can be alone and undisturbed. The proctor will ask you to show them the room before you begin.
A paper examination is available on request. Sitting at one of our own locations is available on request. Neither is the default, and neither costs more, but both need arranging, so say which you want when you book rather than afterwards.
It is the most common reason a remote sitting goes wrong, and it is the easiest to deal with in advance. Say so on the booking form and we will test the connection with you beforehand. Discovering a problem during a timed examination is a bad way to discover it.
It is not a Canadian licence to install anything. NABCEP PV Associate is a knowledge credential, and NABCEP's own wording is that passing it qualifies you to work in a supervised capacity. In Ontario the electrical scope of a grid-tied installation is still governed by provincial certification and the Electrical Safety Authority, and nothing you sit with us changes that. The fee, the dates and the room are identical for candidates who trained with us and candidates who did not, and the booking form does not ask you where you studied. NABCEP writes, delivers and scores the examination. We provide the seat and the proctoring, and we cannot affect the result.
